I think it is vextremely obvious that different people thinks differently based on their values, beliefs, knowledge, and their culture. Therefore, I am not really surprised by reading, “Shakespeare in the Bush” where we find different interpretations of Shakespeare’s plays.

The Lacandon Maya avoided culture change. First, like many other indigenous groups, they were not really
get in touch with outsiders untill the nineteenth century. They lived independently in the tropical forest. Secondly, although they traded with different groups, the trade remainsed slow and infrequent, and only after the twentieth century did they come intacto frequecontlyact with outsiders; therefore, the Lacandon Maya avoided culture change.

In
the recent culture contact, they were affected inat different levels. suchFor exasmple, territorial shifts, diseases, and new powerful cultural influences. They came into contact with forest workers twhato encouraged them to work in order to earn a wage, which resultsed in an overall transformation in their culture. In addition, development took place, churches were established, and many Lacandon were converted.
